From Play Therapist to Holistic Counsellor: My Journey Into Embodied Healing and Breathwork

I often say that healing isn’t a straight line—it’s a spiral. It loops back. It revisits old places with new perspective. That truth has been the heartbeat of both my personal and professional journey.

Where It All Began

I started out as a play therapist, working primarily with children and young people. I was always drawn to the unspoken parts of human experience—the stories we carry in our bodies, the emotions we tuck away, the patterns we unknowingly repeat. Play therapy offered a creative, non-verbal doorway into that world. It helped children express what they didn’t yet have words for.

But over time, I felt the pull to go deeper—not just in my work, but in my own life too.

The Turning Point

In 2020, during the upheaval of the pandemic, I was navigating my own personal health struggles—physically, emotionally, spiritually. That period cracked something open in me. I stumbled across Breathwork, and it felt like a lifeline. Unlike traditional talk therapy, Breathwork bypassed the mind and went straight to the body—the place where so much trauma lives.

I began practicing regularly and noticed profound shifts: reduced anxiety, more clarity, deeper emotional release, and above all, a sense of safety in my own body that I hadn’t felt in a long time.

Breathwork didn’t just help me cope—it helped me heal.

From Practice to Purpose

Inspired by my own transformation, I trained with Breathwork Africa and became an internationally certified Advanced Breathwork Practitioner in 2022. That training was a turning point. It gave me a whole new toolkit—and a deeper understanding of how healing actually works when we include the body, the breath, and the nervous system.

Now, I blend the power of breathwork with my background in psychology, hypnosis, and play therapy to create personalized, holistic sessions for my clients. No two sessions are the same. We follow the body’s wisdom. We listen. We breathe. We release. We rebuild.

Why Embodiment Matters

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that healing doesn’t come from the mind alone. We can’t think our way out of trauma. We need to feel it, safely. We need to move it, breathe through it, and integrate it on every level—mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual.

The nervous system is at the core of this work. When we experience stress or trauma, our system can get stuck in survival modes—fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. Breathwork and somatic practices help regulate the nervous system gently and effectively. Over time, this builds resilience, emotional flexibility, and a deep sense of inner safety.

A Space for Transformation

The space I offer is rooted in compassion, presence, and permission. Permission to feel. To slow down. To come home to yourself. Whether we’re working with breath, movement, inner child work, or reflective dialogue, the focus is always on you—your experience, your body’s signals, your unique path.

Because there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to healing. Your story is unlike anyone else’s, and your healing should be too.

Walking This Path Together

I’ve walked this road myself, and I know how vulnerable it can feel to begin—or begin again. But I also know what’s possible when we create space for truth, breath, and embodiment.

So if you’re seeking support, curious about breathwork, or simply craving a safe space to land and reconnect, I’m here. Let’s take the next step together—at your pace, in your rhythm.

Healing doesn’t mean becoming someone new. It means remembering who you’ve been all along.
